Career Summary
I am an enthusiastic Science Educator. I am currently a Faculty Associate at SFU in the Professional Development Program. Previous to this appointment, I was a Science Department Head, teaching Senior Biology and Junior Science at Burnaby South Secondary.  I enjoy collaborating and being involved in the school community.  I am completing a MEd in Imaginative Education and Learning in Depth at SFU in July 2014.

Faculty Associate in the Professional Development Program
  • Responsible for the supervision of student teachers during their school placement
  • Mentor and advise student teachers as they develop their practice
  • Evaluate and recommend successful student teachers for certification
  • Develop module programs for individual and group instruction

o    Create a classroom and an online community (through the use of twitter and SFU’s online application – Canvas)
o    Promote the study of education literature and the examination of educational issues
o    Prepare and implement workshops on a variety of topics including: planning, assessment, motivation, engagement, teaching strategies, aboriginal education, and special education.
o    Provide opportunities for students to practice skills
o    Provide feedback on student reflections and student progress within the program
A liaison between SFU’s Faculty of Education and the public schools

Taught in a variety of elementary, middle and secondary schools within the district in May and June of 2013.

            Leadership Experience
My role was to enable and encourage collaboration, be approachable, and supportive.  I worked with my department to bring forward new ideas, encourage discussion and inspire reflection.  I was also responsible for our department budget, approving all purchases, and working with our lab assistants to maintain the necessary inventory needed for experiments. Ultimately, I worked with my department to improve student success within our Science Program and School.
