Professional Growth Plan:
(1) Assessment & differentiation using the new curriculum documents
- Having previewed some of the draft curriculum documents, I am eager to explore the new curriculum documents and start building units, themes, and activities explicitly encompassing the competencies described.
- Find more examples of teachers weaving formative assessment into units that assist students in taking ownership and responsibility for their own learning
- Connect what is happening in the classroom to the community and outdoor environment (visit and/or invite more members of the community into the classroom and/or school to facilitate learning)
- Further explore the use of portfolios in all subject areas
(2) Implementing Imaginative Education in the classroom
- Investigate what can be emotionally engaging for students in K-12
- Determine how to integrate emotionally engaging content in an inquiry based approach to encourage the development of the imagination and understandings of students
- Further explore the connections between assessment, imagination, motivation and engagement
- Further explore the connections between ecological education and imaginative education
